Threads - New Gigs - Apple iOS beta 17 update - How to organize yourself for a (successful) multihyphenate life (part 1)
This Summer is reeeeally shaping up! Next week will be part 2 and prepping your marketing for Fall/Winter. 🍁 🎃 ❄️
There’s a new kid in town…
Having SO. MUCH. FUN with the new Threads app! 🧵 It feels fresh and new and wonderful and of course, there are no ads…yet.
TBH - most of my social media accounts 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 feel like this because I CURATE MY FEEDS RUTHLESSLY!
It is my 💯 mission for everyone to see and read and learn 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 from those accounts they CHOOSE and uplift, not diminish your mental health. This is the most important piece of advice I teach.
ALSO?
Friends, I’m not telling you to join yet another social media platform. It IS always fun AND helpful to join at the beginning. My thought for you would be to just grab your handle and then take a deep breath and let it sit… it’s ok if you don’t have the bandwidth for it right now. IT IS OK.👌 #permissiongranted
What I will say… it’s a unique opportunity to be at the beginning of something that feels good.
I’ve chatted with folx I have not had access to before. #foodforthought
The deets so far:
The word count for a post is 300, it is behaving like a decentralized platform (oh my this is cool), the algo is not clear or seemingly in place, no ads for now, links allowed/encouraged, there is crashing with pics and video posts, no set follow/unfollow limits.
I’m over there with both of my accounts - @socialbutterflygroup and @karenmichaelschicksinger if you’d like to follow me and say hey. 👋
📲 iOS 17 latest beta update - the biggest things I’ve noticed and used are in the Reminders app and the Weather app! Automatic sorting for the grocery list… it is SO cool AND helpful… you’ll find sorting by tapping the 3 dots on the top right. Also, sections and more. I’m adding Reminders as part of my new workflow to get and stay on track with my busy life. The Weather app is becoming more detailed, adding wind conditions (important for driving and outdoor activities). Tap the unfolded “map” on the bottom left to access up to date and several hours of weather info.
The Multi-hyphenate Life is in full swing over here… I announced on socials last week that I am now a signed pianist/singer artist! OMG! I am working on my new profile for my agent, getting new PR photos, updated set lists, the whole shebang. I am so damn excited and even hoping to branch more into voice over work, MD and piano work.
The other big announcement that is coming today?
You all are the first to know since I’m sending this so early… but I’ll announce on socials later today…
I am about to join one of LA’s top Entertainment Agencies… AS AN AGENT OF MUSICAL THEATER. 🎭 😭
The conversation began just over 2 months ago. I was completely taken by surprise by the offer. ME… an AGENT.
The funny thing is I have been doing it-ish for a while with students who I thought would be a good match for this agency. She told me “I’ve watched how you use a real level of discretion with who you send to audition for us and I think you are a natural.” 😳
Funny, because this is true. But I never considered that I could do this for a living. Not only that, I told her I was just signed and wanted to focus on my performing and also travel more and the response was (paraphrasing) “perfect! you can do this job from anywhere AND as a performer you REALLY know what’s going on out there. Not only that, your social media business is going to be a TOTAL PLUS for for those performers you sign.” Back to 😭.
This whole year has been about re-organizing my life and stuff and I didn’t even realize how it would all come into play. Friends! When you keep taking action and keep moving forward, keep trying, doors. fly. open.
I am in so much gratitude right now. AND in MAJOR time and space overhaul. I won’t have a single moment to waste AND I fully intend to make MORE time for family and self.
I’ll be leaning even more into my writing about how I do this multi-hyphenate life thing, Apple tech, and of course, positive vibes and living. (Hint… tap those links!)
So… how AM I doing all this?
Here’s the short version… (full Medium story coming after my onboarding is complete) still considering Notion and now Reminders as way to keep a closer and clearer track of my life, clients, students and work.

Time for social updates! 🦋
Meta Biz Suite - Did you know you can send invites to multiple people in Meta Biz Suite? Head on over to your account - tap the “planner” on the left hand side of your page - and it pops up!
Tap likes/loves/wows and you can invite 100 people at a time. I do this for all accounts I run, nearly every Monday. It helps growth SO. MUCH!
Screen shots for additional understanding…
Meta’s New Threads App - 30 Million Users in Less Than a Day OMG I’ve already shared my experience but this is incredible info for all micro and small biz owners to have. What do you think? Will you be joining? I’m keeping my eyes and ears open.
📺 YouTubers!! YT is testing hyperlinked keywords in comments as a way to Maximize in-app discovery… With all the threads talk, this gem has gone a bit unnoticed… remember it’s in test but be sure to look for it.
I’ll be looking in all of my client accounts this week.
As explained by YouTube:
“Currently, if a viewer wants to learn more about a topic or product they find in a comment, they have to navigate away from the video they’re watching to learn more. We’re experimenting with new hyperlinked keywords in comments to reduce friction for viewers looking to discover new and relevant content on the platform.”
🐦 Twitter - a new version of TweetDeck is coming, exclusive for Twitter Blue-ers. Now I have started using TweetDeck and it reeeeally helps keep out the riff-raff I don’t want to see… always curating friends! Now let’s see if it gets any better… or will it even matter if Threads takes a hold! 😆
And if you wanna know MORE about Threads from the creators themselves… read this!
Remember if you need help or don’t understand something, reply back!
