Summer plans for your content and making room for downtime...
Are you pushing a rope? (thanks Meredith!)
Are you pushing a rope when it comes to your social media marketing? 🫠
TBH, I had never heard that expression before and the other day I was working with one of my fave clients, she said, “well it feels like I’m pushing a rope”… 😳. I said “whoa well THAT sounds frustrating!” and she said “exactly”.
Is that how social media feels to you?
Here’s how it feels to me…
Hear me out… what if your social media marketing could feel fun at best and doable at worst AND help you sell your services, coaching, studio, sell out shows, digital products, book, fill your studios, WHATEVS you want?!
Here is the 411 I share with clients to help you with your Summer content plans!
To make your life even easier, you could buy my social calendar I made for you with post ideas for EVERY SINGLE DAY of the year AND LOADS of extras!
Here’s a discount code 40% off for you, my fabulous subscribers, (cuz I love youuuuuu) since I’m doing a revamp on July 1 - use PVDC24 at checkout
Back to what to do… ⬇
pick 1-3 platforms MAX - yes Substack is a platform so example is Substack + IG + YouTube which is what I’m working towards.
show up 3-6 times per week - best post times per the latest intel from Sprout Social (please use YOUR insights for YOUR audience, as well as this info):
Mondays from 11 a.m. to noon
Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 4 p.m.
Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m.
Best days to post on social media: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
Worst days to post on social media: Sundays
Allow for messy consistency (my fave thing I teach is this concept) so if it’s once a week (or less), IT’S OK!! Just keep going.
Engage more than post - sharing posts in stories, commenting an encouraging or uplifting few words goes WAY farther than any pretty graphic.
Video is easier to do than creating graphics - use the device in your hand or on your desk and talk about/teach us/sing to/play for us your awesome stuff, do MINIMAL edits, then post it. (Canva’s newest updates are WOW, tho’ if you love a good graphic - see below).
New episode coming soon with the fabulous Eden Casteel! Interview in the edit box… #soclose
🦋 Now let’s get to some useful updates
✍️ Canva - from Canva themselves: “We’re excited to unveil the biggest upgrade to our editing experience in a decade with the launch of a whole new editor designed for work. Rolling out from today, our brand-new homepage and powerful editing experience puts content at your fingertips, making it easy to seamlessly move between projects, access team resources, locate and apply brand guidelines, and share and collaborate on designs across your organization.” I’ve got the new experience and it’s AH-mazing!
🔗 LinkedIn is demoting link previews in the feed - unless you pay 👀
📸 Instagram is testing a template feature (think CapCut), that will allow users to scroll trending memes and add to posts
⏰ TikTok is launching a management platform for creators which will allow them to “create, edit, upload, manage and analyze” their account and content performance.
😜 unconfirmed rumor! AI-generated emojis could be coming in Apple’s iOS 18 (dang I would love this!)
Making room for downtime…
When you get this on June 1st, I’ll be on a ship in the middle of the ocean with my boys and a couple of my besties… then when I get back it’ll be a race to the finish line of getting ready for the NATS national conference I’m speaking at and handling the on-location social media AND training for a new position in my talent agent gig AND a couple other things that are currently on the DL.
To say I’m not so great at downtime is an understatement. I’m working on it, tho’. I’m in a season of growth and possibilities; momentum is there and I’m riding that wave. YAY. GREAT.
HOWM-EVA (I know you’ve heard it said like that!) my health needs to be up-leveled and I need to stare at the people I love A LOT more.
SO, I’m implementing my very own “Unplug Planner”. 😄 You might know that I am working to finish my next half-yearly social media guide and planner for release on July 1st. And this goes perfectly hand in hand. I might even share it on my Gumroad with you. I’ll letcha know for sure. But this much I know…
We NEVER know what life will bring… who will leave us unexpectedly, who might need our help with life events, whatever it is. You want to be at YOUR best to help those around you. You cannot pour from an empty cup, my friend. I see now my cup has been dangerously low for a while. That’s changing now. If you need to change that, DO IT NOW. I give you permission and support and hell yeahs.
Here’s to sunny days, warm nights and fun socials.
XO, Karen
P.S. I’ve got TWO things to share with you!
First my friend Jess is doing a fab thing - if you’re looking for accountability THIS is it! Make It Happen
Secondly, my new ‘Stack friend Kristi has graciously shared 3, 1-month gift subscriptions to her incredible newsletter Unstack Substack. If you wanna learn about this platform (it’s been an amazing ride so far!) Kristi is THE ONE.
If I were on social media I'd 100% take advantage of this! Since I'm not, the least I could do was share it to all the other social-hungry peeps 😁 I've no doubt it's fabulous...just like you!
